Meet Dusty Lane Farms, who supplied the potatoes in your bag of Kettle Brand chips.
Tater Tidbit: Mike Brooks and his production team are focused on producing high quality potatoes for chips. They’re growing on land that’s been in Mike’s family for eight generations and are proud to continue their farming heritage.
Sustainable Spud: Mike has participated in our corporate sustainable agriculture program and uses several regenerative practices, including:
🌱 Planting Cover Crops: adds protective cover, carbon-rich matter, and plant diversity that build soil health.
🐝 Maintaining Pollinator Habitats: supports bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.
💧 Using Soil Moisture Sensors: helps farmers to steward their use of irrigation water.
🌷Practicing edge-of-field management: prevents field runoff to conserve soil and water.
In the past few years, Mike has used our corporate grower grant fund to try out drones as part of his responsible pest management program, and to trial a technology that produces nitrogen fertilizer on the farm using electricity, air and water.
